Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Reviews

It is a really famous company and a recognized brand not just in the US but across the globe. There's a reason as to why it's grown in popularity and that's high quality products. Their thermostats are surely one of the finest in the industry and that's the reason most homes have them installed.

However, there are plenty of different models when it comes to the Honeywell Programmable thermostats and that's the reason I've created a table comparing the best models (Which you'd find further down this article)

Among the Honeywell thermostat models, all their touchscreen ones are really popular. So, before comparing them, let's take a look at some of the qualities that they possess (For your understanding). The table will tell you exactly what is present and absent in each model.

Comparison of their top Options

The names on the table are linked to Individual reviews of each Model so that you'd get all the information you need:

About the Honeywell Touchscreen Thermostats
Most of us these days have touchscreen mobile phones and we know how cool and easy to operate they are. That's the reason Honeywell has come up with touchscreen thermostats. This doesn't just make them simple to operate; but, at the same time the overall beauty of the device is increased (There aren't any buttons projecting on the surface). Therefore, they suit all home interiors well.

However, just like your phone, the thermostat too could lose it's touch after a few years. Since the thermostat is programmable you won't need to operate it much (Unless you're making changes to the set program or overriding it). So, my suggestion would be to operate it only when necessary and not every single time that you notice it. This would increase its lifetime substantially.

Overall, I'd say the touchscreens are really great and they're surely durable.

Features of their Programmable models

Installation - It's not just one or two people that find the installation process really simple, if you go through the reviews written by anyone you'd notice that over 95% of the people found the installation process to be a piece of cake.

If at all you've installed a thermostat in your house before, you have absolutely nothing to fear; but, if it's your first time, there's the installation manual that comes along - it explains everything!

Programming - Some of the Honeywell programmable thermostat models come along with 7 day programming whereas others have 2 day programming features.

If the one you're buying has a 7 day programming option, you would be able to have a different schedule for each day of the week. However, when it comes to the 2 day Honeywell Programmable thermostat you would only be able to have two schedules - One for the weekdays and another for the weekends.

Events - All the thermostat models come along with 4 Event programming options. That is, each day is divided into 4 categories (schedules); namely: Awake, Work, Return and sleep.

  • Awake - This is the temperature of the room/house when you get up

  • Work - This is the set temperature for when there's no one at home

  • Return - Usually people save the same schedule of awake for return as well, as this is when they come back home from work

  • Sleep - The temperature of your house when you're asleep

  • Display

    - The Programmable thermostats are divided into the touchscreen display and the regular button display. However, before you buy a model you should decide whether you need one with a bright display; because among the best there are 2 which don't have a bright display and you would need to use an external light source to view the data on the screen.

Daylight saving - Imagine having to do all the programming again just because of the change in timings due to daylight saving. Luckily Honeywell, thought about this when they manufactured their products and hence there's an option for this. So. there's no need to program it entirely from scratch once again.

Auto Switching over - Many houses need both heating as well as cooling in order to maintain the desired room temperature. However, in traditional thermostats there was a need to manually switch over from one to another and it was a real pain when the temperature used to fluctuate just above and below the switching point. But, the Honeywell programmable thermostats have the auto switch option wherein they control both the heating and cooling of your home at once.

Alert System - In case you're using Batteries to power the thermostat, you're going to need to know when they're low so that you'd have time to buy replacements. The Honeywell Programmable thermostat range alerts you well in advance and so you don't need to worry about the thermostat losing control of your home one fine day. Moreover, filter cleaning and replacement alerts are set into place.

Override - There's no hard and fast rule which says you need to stick to the program you set. If you're home early or just want to alter the temperature, you're free to do so. However, the way you do it and the period it lasts for depends on the model (Check out the individual reviews for complete details).

Vacation Mode - Not all of them have this feature, but the programmable thermostats that do possess it are one of the best; because, you don't need to worry about huge bills when you're on a vacation and neither would you be returning home to a chill or extremely hot home.
